Reese's 2nd Birthday PartyFriends and FamilyWe finally had the chance to reschedule Reese's 2nd birthday party this past weekend. A fun time was had by all. Submitted by Amy on Tue, 03/10/2009 - 10:25pm.
Fun times with my nieceFriends and FamilyMy sweet niece Mia is unfortunately allergic to peanuts. Whenever we give her anything, we have to go through the ingredients to make sure she can have it. She is visiting for a few days and brought out a bag of Teddy Grahams from the pantry. I started reating the ingredients outloud and came across many of the "poly, mono, bleh, bleh" ingredients. Instead of saying the names, I just said, "chemicals, sugar, etc). Several minutes later as she was eating the teddy grahams, she said, "I'm not allergic to chemicals." I found it very funny. New picturesFriends and FamilyWe didn't have our camera down in San Antonio on Reese's actual birthday, so those pictures are still on my mom's camera. We're having a birthday party with a couple of her little friends this coming Sunday, so we'll put up pictures from that. Here are some pictures from the last few days. Aunt Andrea brought to our attention that we don't post nearly as many pictures of Mara as we did of Reese when she was her age. Sadly, this is because we haven't taken as many. I guess that is what happens when you have 2. We're trying to be more on top of that.

My baby is 2 years old!Friends and FamilyIt's hard to believe that Reese is 2 years old! Unfortunately her actual birthday (the 20th) was less than wonderful. My dear grandmother passed away on Reese's birthday at the age of 87. She was a wonderful woman and we all miss her dearly. She adored Reese, so her passing on Reese's birthday was somewhat sweet. I don't think my grandma would appreciate having her life blogged about (we never could teach her to even play solitaire on the computer), so I'll just leave it at that. Reese has been such a blessing to our family for these past two years. She is such a happy kid most of the time. My mom always says "When she was good, she was very, very good, but when she was bad, she was horrid." I think that is from a book (I'm not sure which one), but it certainly describes Reese. She is becoming easier and easier to understand every day and will repeat just about everything we say (Daddy really needs to watch his language in the car). She can sing most of the alphabet song and can count to eleven (or eweven). She continues to love drawing and is very into sign language. Her imagination is really blossoming and it is fun to watch. She is very sweet to her baby sister. The other night she started rubbing Mara's hair and singing to her without anyone asking her to. I could go on and on, but I think I'll just end with saying that 2 years ago I had no idea how full of joy my life would be today. I thank God every day for these beautiful girls and ask that He watch over them and keep them safe. Now we have another angel in heaven to watch over them, too. I'll post pictures of Reese's birthday celebrations soon. Submitted by Amy on Tue, 02/24/2009 - 10:36am.
Let's Play TagFriends and FamilyI was tagged by my friend Shannon and here's the game. Post the 7th picture in your 7th folder and tell about it. Don't cheat, just post what's there.
This picture is of Reese and my mom when Reese was about a month old. The blanket is one of my favorites that my friend, Beth, made especially for Reese. Mara is using it now. All I remember from these days is being very tired and very stressed about nursing. My mom won't like this picture going up because she doesn't have makeup on, but I'm not supposed to cheat. Mara Grace- 2 months oldFriends and FamilyIt's hard to believe our little baby has been here for 2 months already. We visited the pediatrician today for a check-up and she is doing beautifully. She still sleeps very well! She's waking up only once at night most of the time and takes several long naps during the day. It has been nice to have a little time to ease into having 2 daughters. She smiles all the time now and we're starting to see a little bit of her personality. We are very blessed to have these 2 healthy daughters!
Here are Mara's stats from the doctor: Height: 23 1/4 inches--75-90th percentile (up 3 1/2 inches from birth) Weight: 12 pounds 3.5 ounce--75-90th percentile (up 4 pounds 13.5 ounces from birth) Head size: 39.2 cm--50-75th percentile (nice and average, unlike her sister's big noggin) Submitted by Amy on Fri, 01/23/2009 - 2:38pm.
